Finally...Introductions

I have been doing this bakery thing for a little while now. Slowly, YumYum Bakery is growing. It’s crazy to see, and my imagination is running wild with the possibilities of this new venture. For those who have been following from the first post, thank you; for those who are new, thank you also :). It’s time for you to know who makes YumYum Bakery, YumYum Bakery!! So here we go, a little introduction to who we are. Shayla Fallon: The Baker. I am also the blog writer, social media poster, and recipe selector. I've always enjoyed baking, whether as a stress reliever, experiment, for special family events or for fun. I just love baking. I was pretty resistant to starting a bakery, an idea my mom planted and ran with every time she saw me or every time I mentioned baking. But here we are, after contemplating it for a year, a pandemic year no less, YumYum Bakery is slowly taking form. I say slowly because not only am I building this bakery, but I am also working full time as a firefighter/paramedic. I really enjoy my job at the fire department. It’s something I was called to do. As a young adult searching for a career, it was satisfying to finally find the thing I wanted to commit to. Andy Fallon: The Advisor (and my Husband). Andy has been here since before we decided to make this a reality. He is the forever taste-tester. But he is also the encourager, brainstorm partner, photographer and business advisor. Andy has a business brain full of ideas. This is incredibly helpful for the days when I feel uninspired OR completely clueless as to what the next step is for this bakery. (The second part happens often; I'm frequently clueless). Many steps have been talked over, brainstormed and troubleshot with him.

Andy also dabbles in photography, which is a bonus for us. Check him out on instagram @lt_andy_fallon. He’s a good photographer, has a great eye and is the talent behind our dessert photos. In addition to helping me in his free time, Andy is part owner of his own company, Emergency Disaster Recovery. They specialize in water and fire damage restoration. The majority of his business brain is spent here, and he is good at it. I appreciate him lending some brain time to YumYum Bakery. Andy and I met at Hartland Fire Department when I was starting in EMS. Ever the helper, Andy taught me many of the ins and outs of working at a fire department. I won't bore you with the whole story. Clearly, we became friends, fell in love, got married, blah blah blah :). Now here we are working on a bakery together. In both my full time job and YumYum Bakery, I would be lost without Andy's wisdom and encouragement.

Anna Schuett: The Editor. When it comes to writing, I’m decent but grammatically not that great. My sister-in-law is great. She reads all my blog posts pre-post to make sure I don’t sound too silly. She lives in Minnesota, we went to college together, and she was in my wedding. She is very special to me. She is a great wife to my older brother and a great mom to my beautiful nieces and nephew. The blogs wouldn’t be what they are without her keen eye.

We would love to know about our followers as well! Your support is invaluable. A bakery can’t function without followers. Where are you following us from? Do you prefer chocolate or fruit desserts? Pies? Cakes? Ice cream? Cookies? Let us know! We would love some conversations started and possibly recipe ideas!
