Pretzel Bites

Today I made pretzel bites. In all honesty, it’s essentially the same as making pretzels. But for some reason, with this recipe, it was much faster and much easier than a true pretzel recipe. Surprisingly enough, I did NOT use Half Baked Harvest for this one. I know it doesn’t happen often, and I know there are many other great recipes out there. I really should start branching out more. I know I say that a lot.

I really enjoyed making these. Now that I've made pretzels a few times, I stress a little less about the process. This was easier; most likely because there is no shaping involved. A simple pizza cutter is all you need. Minimal ingredients are necessary; however, just like pretzels, a baking soda bath is crucial to get the fluffy pretzels everyone loves.

I made these for a gathering. I wanted something homemade but simple. Fortunately, this recipe does not require much resting for the rising process. Once the dough is mixed, not too sticky of a dough, all you need is to let it rise for 30ish minutes. After 30 minutes you can separate the dough into 4 different "blobs" :). Then roll them into long thin ropes. I didn't use a rolling pin, just my hands until they were the length and thickness I was hoping for. After that I just laid them all next to each other and used a pizza cutter to cut approximately 1 inch sections.

I don't remember quite how many bites we got out of it. I put 15 at a time in the baking soda bath, then filled my pans up, egg washed them, and baked them until they were golden. The pretzel bites came out soft and fluffy, just the way we all want them. They are definitely best served warm but still delicious a day or two after. This is a simple appetizer to make. Whether for the holidays, a simple get together, or a fancy dinner party. Just dress it up with a dipping sauce and these pretzel bites will be perfect for every snacking need.
