Working Hard

Hello! We have gotten a little behind in our blog posts. Farmers Market season is underway here in Wisconsin. We have joined a different market from last year, and so far we really love it. For the first market of this year, we were able to unveil something so special!

In August of 2021, my wonderful husband found and purchased a horse trailer for YumYum Bakery! We had seen renovated horse trailers here and there utilized for a variety of things. Since I bake out of my home and primarily for farmers markets, we thought the horse trailer would be a much more fun way to set up my stand at the markets than an EZ-UP. So we got one, and then it sat. But not for long. In late October, we set to work on it.

First things first, it needed a fresh coat of paint. I did a bit of research regarding renovated horse trailers. The majority I found were dark in color and utilized as mobile beverage bars. Since mine would be baked goods, I wanted to stay away from the affiliated dark color with drinks. So we went with an off white/beige color. Fortunately, my dad was more than willing to come help me paint. Andy had a handy dandy paint sprayer, and my dad, while he was there to "help," must have been having a good time because he painted the entire thing! He did a wonderful job. Little before photos for you :)

Once the paint dried, Andy set to work on the inside. We used barn wood for the floor, sides, and a the little countertop area. It turned out great. I picked out some contact paper for the sides. I needed to bring some life to the inside :). Andy did a lot of work on the trailer while I was at work at the fire department. I would often get random photos from him and be so surprised by what he was working on and the progress he made. He really and truly made this vision come to life. He worked hard cutting out the service window and making the actual, useable window and countertop. He replaced broken windows, reinforced worn frame areas, painted the barn boards, the list goes on and on. This wonderful thing wouldn't exist without all Andy's hard work

When I had free time, I helped him put up the contact paper. It was hard to imagine what it would look like, but when we got it applied, I immediately loved the design. No regrets with any aspect of this trailer. We have a refurbished dresser inside to keep some of the supplies we need. We also used chalkboard paint on the inside of the door, so I could write the menu and prices. It all came together so well. Some during photos!

Now it’s finished and making its presence known in the area via the farmers market! In the future, we hope to trail it around to more areas and share baked goods around the county! So many doors open with this little trailer. :) Here are the after photos!
